NLLInsider Girl of the Year Finals: It’s Dana of the Roughnecks vs. Kate P. of the Mammoth Wild Bunch

June 16th, 2010 by Tommy Kehoe

Ladies and gentlemen, presumably more of the latter and likely not gentlemen at all, welcome to the NLLInsider.com Girl of the Year finale.

DANA OF THE ROUGHNECKS

Dana of the RoughnecksDana is the Canadian cocktail out of Calgary, who resides at the cross streets of titillating and gripping. She’s the girl that walks in the bar and has the juke box come to stretching halt while a few cigarettes hit the floor. She’s also a kick-ass girl, who happens to captain the dance team responsible for entertaining the boisterous fans of Calgary. Anyone that can get the attention of 15,000 Canadians at once deserves a serious round of applause, or syrup bath, whatever is the norm up north.

Dana of the Roughnecks

Here’s what Dana has to say about the the year coming to end:

Insider: How’s it feel to come this far and make it into the NLLInsider Girl of the Year finals?
Dana: Super pumped I’ve made it this far! Shows I got lots of supporters out there rooting for me and it would be a huge honor not only for me, but my team as well.

Insider: Was it another thrilling NLL season with the Roughnecks?
Dana: The Roughnecks’ season was a blast once again. We were so happy to host a first round playoff game, but unfortunately we lost to Edmonton. The drill crew and myself worked really hard and managed to get ourselves to Orlando! Epic trip, the Titans organization was great, they treated us well and we had a blast; it couldn’t have been a better season with the drill crew.

Insider: What’s the plan for summer?
Dana: Lots of plans this summer…Where do I begin? Let’s start with the fact that it just kicked off my 26th birthday! Now I’m going to Vegas in 10 days followed by the greatest outdoor show on earth, “the Calgary Stampede.”. Ever been? Worth seeing for sure. Then I’ll go to Vegas again before getting out to Toronto and Montreal to see the family. Definitely some house-boating with the girls….holy this summer is going to be terrible! Ha.

Insider: That sounds like a summer all the readers would give a toe for, I can’t even envision what the Calgary Stampede might entail. The thought of thousands of Canadians taking to the streets in a drunken celebration of being from Calgary shakes my very perception of civilization.

KATE P. OF THE MAMMOTH

Now, let me reintroduce Kate P. out of the Colorado, who is short on flaws and big on dominating the hell out of your thoughts. I actually have her email saved under the name “make money lose weight.” Is there a better example of American blonde perfection out there? Between the blonde hair and crisp smile, I’d probably do anything she could think of asking. I bet if she asked nicely, the oil invading the Gulf coast would just tucker back into well and giggle about meeting Kate.

I got one last email into Kate and shared her last bits of knowledge:

Insider: Are you pumped about being this close to being named NLL Girl of the Year, an honor that would humble queens?
Kate P.: Pumped? More like bursting with excitement!! I have had such a blast with the NLL, so being Girl of the Year would be quite the honor. I’ve had so much fun with this whole process, and my friends and family have been so supportive. I don’t think queens have anything over the Girl of the Year finals…

Insider: How was the Mammoth’s season for you?
Kate P.: Exciting! This was my first year as a dancer in the NLL and I could not have had a better experience. I had been to Mammoth games before, but being a dancer takes the games to a whole new level. Although the Mammoth’s season may not have gone exactly as we all would have hoped, the games were still action-packed and our fans remained loyal. We have the loudest house in the NLL, nothing changed about that. I loved every second of the season!

Is that a stunner or is that a stunner?

Insider: What are you up to this summer?
Kate P.: This summer I am working in the mall, which my friends find pretty funny since I already spend too much time there! I am also spending time with my friends and family, and of course, dancing every chance I get. I’m going to try to catch a few rays at the pool whenever I get the chance…hopefully during a trip to Arizona to visit some friends!

Insider: Kate, please sell me something in the mall. I’ll buy anything; anything!!
